The 5G.NATURAL research project (from p. 38) is all about digitalization in agriculture. In the research project funded by the Ministry of Economic Affairs, Innovation, Digitalization and Energy of the State of North Rhine-Westphalia (MWIDE, funding reference 005-2108-0037), FIR and its project partners have spent the last two years investigating the implementation prospects for agricultural businesses in the age of 5G. When the project is completed at the end of 2023, a business case calculator will be published to help users evaluate the cost-benefit ratio of 5G applications and make informed decisions. The project, which is funded by the Federal Ministry for Digital Affairs and Transport (BMDV) (funding code 19FS2054A), focuses on data-based route planning in road freight transport. The aim of the research project is to develop the technical requirements for eco-efficient, data-based long-distance transportation of trucks with alternative drive systems (open to all technologies). This is a fascinating topic that FIR will be working on together with its project partners until the end of 2024.
