Nun liegen spannende acht Monate des Jahres hinter uns und das FIR-Ökosystem wächst mehr und mehr zusammen: Unsere Center vernetzen sich inhaltlich noch enger mit dem FIR, wir führen gemeinsam Veranstaltungen durch und entwickeln zusammen neue Weiterbildungsangebote. Bewährtes setzen wir fort: So zum Beispiel die internationale Fach- tagung ‚CDO Aachen 2023 – Convention on Digital Opportunities‘, die am 15. November 2023 unter dem Motto ‚Getting connected for the Circular Economy‘ in Zusammenarbeit mit dem Industrie 4.0 Maturity Center stattfindet – wie gewohnt digital und kostenfrei für die Teilnehmenden. Zwei Themen, die isoliert voneinander kaum mehr zukunftsfähig und sinnvoll wirken können, führen wir noch enger zusammen: Wir erschließen die Potenziale der Digitalisierung mit besonderem Fokus auf Nachhaltigkeit. Im Mittelpunkt unseres Schaffens steht die Entwicklung von Lösungen für eine wert- steigernde Kreislaufwirtschaft, die Ressourceneffizienz und ökologische sowie soziale Verantwortung der Unternehmen in Einklang bringen. Neue Trends und Tools beeinflussen dabei unsere Arbeit – im Kontext der heißen Debatte um Künstliche Intelligenz ist beispielsweise die adäquate und kluge Nutzung von ChatGPT auch für uns ein Thema. In der anhaltenden gesellschaftlichen Diskussion zwischen Besorgnis und Faszination um das leistungsstarke Sprachmodell forschen auch wir in vielen unserer Bereiche und bieten Ihnen Orientierung mit unseren Ergebnissen. Was steckt hinter dem Phänomen, was kann ChatGPT und wo liegen die Potenziale für die Wirtschaft? Mehr dazu finden Sie ab S. 6 in dieser Ausgabe. Eine unserer Stärken liegt darin, Unternehmen bei der Ent- wicklung geeigneter Geschäftsmodelle zu unterstützen. Im Forschungsprojekt ‚SCALA‘ (ab S. 74) etwa werden Subscription- geschäftsmodelle mithilfe eines Business-Case-Calculators berechenbar. Die Einführung der agilen Managementmethode OKR (Objectives and Key Results) in Unternehmen erleichtert ein im Projekt ‚OKReady‘ entwickeltes Tool. Wie kann man dezentral erfolgreich arbeiten und wie muss die Gestaltung KMU-gerechter Managementinstrumente für erfolgreiches hybrides Arbeiten und Remote-Work aussehen? Im Artikel zum Projekt ‚DecentraLEAD‘ (ab S. 54) erfahren Sie, wie KMU niedrigschwellig und schnell durch praxisnahe und pass- genaue Managementinstrumente für dezentrales Arbeiten zur erfolgreichen Umsetzung von hybridem Arbeiten und Remote-Work befähigt werden. Liebe Leserinnen, liebe Leser, Dear Reader, We are pleased to present you this year’s second issue of UdZ. Exciting eight months of the year are behind us, and the FIR ecosystem is constantly evolving: Our centers are aligning themselves even more closely with FIR in terms of topics addressed, and we are holding joint events and developing new continuing education programs together. We will continue to host tried and tested events, such as the international ‘CDO Aachen 2023 – Convention on Digital Opportunities’, which will be held on November 15, 2023 under the motto of ‘Getting Connected for the Circular Economy’ in collaboration with the Industrie 4.0 Maturity Center – as usual in an online format and free of charge for all participants. We are integrating two topics even more closely that can hardly be considered forward-looking and meaningful in isolation from each other: We are seeking to tap the potential of digitalization in combination with addressing the topic of sustainability. The focus of our work is to develop solutions for a value-adding circular economy that reconciles resource efficiency with ecological and social responsibility on the part of companies. New trends and tools have an impact on our work – in the context of the heated debate about artificial intelligence, for example, the appropriate and prudent use of ChatGPT is also an issue for us. Against the backdrop of the ongoing discussion around this powerful language model, which is characterized by a mixed sense of concern and fascination, we are also researching this technology in many of our departments and offer you orientation with our results. What is behind this phenomenon, what can ChatGPT do, and what opportunities does it really hold for business and industry? You can read more about this from page 6 in this issue. One of our strengths lies in supporting companies in developing suitable business models. In the ‘SCALA’ research project (p. 74), for example, subscription business models become calculable with the help of a business case calculator.
